Richard “Dick” Vincent Bennett, Sr., 86, of Frederick, MD, passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at his home. He was the husband of Patricia Bennett, for 58 years. They were married July 9, 1960.
Born January 8, 1932, in Zanesville, OH, he was the son the late Dorothea and Bernard Bennett. Dick received his B.S. degree in Mechanical engineering from University of Detroit in 1955 and earned a degree in Aeronautical Engineering from M.I. T. in 1956.
He started his career at North American Aviation, which became Rockwell International. He then moved his family to Frederick, when he took a position with Fairchild, which later became Orbital Science. Dick retired from Orbital Science. He attended St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, for many years, until his health declined. He had many hobbies including raising beautiful roses, working puzzles and reading.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Bill Bennett, Richard Bennett, Jr, and Deborah Scheffel and one grandson, Trevor Scheffel.
Funeral services and interment are private.
