Patricia "Pat" D. Wheeldon

Mrs. Patricia “Pat” D. Wheeldon, 67, of Frederick, went to be with our Lord on Saturday, June 16, 2018, when she died at the Frederick Memorial Hospital, after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of James “Jim” E. Wheeldon, who were married on July 15, 1977.

Born June 24, 1950, she was a daughter of the late Roy Samuel Smith, Sr. and Irene Mildred Wroton Smith.  She was raised in the Woodsboro area and in early years, she worked as a presser with Hartz Company, and later worked many years at the White Star Luncheonette, until health issues forced her retirement.

She enjoyed crocheting, reading books and loved pets and animals, including her dog, Remi.

Besides her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Melissa “Missy” Knight and husband, Ronnie, of Dargon; three grandchildren, Jessica “Jessie” Cunningham and husband Justin, Shelby Leggett and husband Corey, Ronnie L. “RK” Knight II; three great grandchildren, Weston Brooks Murray, Corbin Leggett, and Cole Cunningham; her father-in-law, John B. Wheeldon, of Frederick; former sister-in-law, Nancy Smith, of Thurmont; sister-in-law- Mary Smith, Frederick, brother-in-law, Gary A. Wheeldon and wife Judy, of Frederick; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lori Ann Wheeldon; her mother-in-law, Thelma L. Wheeldon; and three siblings, Roy S. Smith Jr, Deborah Bryan and Pamela Sue Lankford.

The family will receive friend from 6 to 9 pm on Thursday, June 21 at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick, where funeral services will be held at 10am on Friday, June 22. Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.

The family would like to extend their thanks and gratitude to the staff of the Hospice Care Unit at Frederick Memorial Hospital for the support and care shown to Pat.
