Donald Arthur Haas

Pastor Haas attended Patterson Park High School, graduating in the class of 1954. He attended Gettysburg College achieving his bachelor of arts in 1958. He continued his education earning his Masters of Divinity from the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg. In 1961 he began his ministry serving at the Woodsboro Evangelical Lutheran Church and Chapel Lutheran Church until 1967. From 1967-1999 he was placed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church on Liberty Road, Baltimore. After his retirement in 1999 he continued to serve as a supply minister. In his free time, Don enjoyed reading, particularly about the Civil War. Pastor Haas was a devoted member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Frederick.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his three children: Susan Elizabeth (Haas) Yatta and husband Walter of Tyrone, PA, Nancy Lynne (Haas) Laven and husband Mark of New Freedon, PA and Donald Robert Haas and wife Madlyn of Eldersburg and five grandchildren: Amy, Matthew, Noel, Samantha, and Sarah.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 from 6 to 9 PM at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. A service is scheduled for Thursday, July 26, 2018 at 11 AM at the Evangelical Lutheran Church, 31 E. Church St., Frederick. The inurnment of Pastor Haas' cremains will follow in the church yard columbarium. Contributions in Pastor Haas' name may be made to the Evangelical Lutheran Church, 35 E. Church St., Frederick, MD 21701, United Lutheran Seminary, 61 Seminary Ridge, Gettysburg, PA 17325, or to Hospice of Frederick County, PO Box 1799, Frederick, MD 21702.
