Prudence Monroe Owen

Ms. Prudence Monroe Owen, 66, of Braddock Heights, died Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at Kline Hospice House, Mt. Airy after a short illness.

Born March 19, 1952 in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Charlotte (Herr) Owen. Prudence is survived by her sister, Charlotte Casey-Wever and husband Robert, brother, Matthew Owen and wife Elizabeth, nieces and nephews Sarah Evans, Melissa Scully and husband John, Patrick Casey and wife Sarah and Katherine Casey, great-nieces and great-nephews, Aaron Rose, Carson Silva, Jay Scully, Leah Scully and Lochlan Casey. She also left behind a large extended family of cats, which she loved and cared for with all her heart.

A member of both the Maryland Society of Accountants and Tax Professionals and the National Society of Accountants, Ms. Owen was a respected local businessperson. She ran the accounting firm Owen & Owen, which was originally founded by her father. Prudence was an alumnus of both Hood College and Mount Saint Mary’s University.

Religion was an important part of Prudence's life. A lifelong Episcopalian, she attended All Saints Episcopal Church and Grace Episcopal Church in Berryville, Virginia.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM, on September 20, 2018 at All Saints' Episcopal Church, 106 W. Church Street, Frederick. Rector Adrien Dawson will officiate. Inurnment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Welfare League of Frederick County or the Frederick County Humane Society.
