Herbert I. Brody

February 9, 1928 — August 26, 2018

Mr. Herbert I. Brody, age 90 of Frederick; it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father Herbert I. Brody on August 26, 2018. Herbert was born on February 9, 1928 to Meta and Irvin Brody in the Bronx, New York.

At an early age Herbert had a fascination with electronics and aviation. At the age of 17, with the blessing of his mother, he joined the Army Air Corp. While in the service he found his niche in electronics and became a radar technician. After serving in the Army, he returned home to attend college at Fairleigh Dickinson. Shortly after, he found the love of his life, Frances Guastella. After marrying Frances, he began a distinguished 36 year career with the Federal Aviation Administration. Frances and Herbert made several moves until settling down in the Washington, DC area to raise their six children. Later in life, he fulfilled his lifelong dream of becoming a pilot. He had a true love for flying, but his real love was his family. He enjoyed many family vacations and organized a family picnic for many years. After retiring he enjoyed spending as much time as he could with his twelve grandchildren.

He is survived by his six children, Irene, Thomas, Scott, Michael, Lisa Tew, and John. He is also survived by his ten grandchildren, Joseph, Kara, Laura, Joshua, Jacob, Jonathan, Nicholas, Christian, Christy Forman, Kevin Tew, Brian Tew, Eva and Several great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Ida Mae McManus.

We rejoice in the comfort of knowing that he is with his beloved wife in the house of God.

A visitation will be held at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 from 4 to 6 PM.
