Ralph Geiger

October 3, 1926 — September 3, 2018

Mr. Ralph Wallace Geiger, 91, of Frederick, passed away on Monday, September 3, 2018  at the VA Medical Center in Martinsburg, West Virginia.  He was the loving husband of Vilma Panyko Geiger for 67 years.  Born in Summit Station, OH on October 3, 1926, he was a son of the late Marion and Jennie (Bowman) Geiger.

Ralph proudly served his country in the US Navy for 8 years.  He served on the USS Converse DD 509 during WWII with the Little Beavers Squadron.  During the Korean War, he served on the Joseph P. Kennedy Jr. DD 850.  He retired as a Lieutenant from the Elmwood Park Police Dept. in N.J. after 25 years of service.  After retirement he worked at F & M bank and as an associate with Keeney & Basford Funeral Home.  He was a life member of the FSK American Legion Post 11, VFW #3285, Last Veterans Club (Korean War) and the Middletown Amvets Post 9.

He is survived by his son, Paul Geiger and wife Donna Faith, grandson, Ryan Geiger and wife Krista, great-grandsons, Jameson Geiger and Patrick Geiger, daughter-in-law, Rose Geiger Graf and husband Rick and a brother Dale Geiger, special friends, Judy and Gary Main, Faye and Wayne Buckingham, numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Gary Geiger and several siblings.

The family is grateful for the love and care of Dr. Hiren Shah, Dr. A. Desai, Dr. B. Romanic and Dr. Barakat. Also, the family would like to thank the Hospice Dept. of the Martinsburg VA for their exceptional care.

A  memorial service will be held at 3:00PM on Sunday, September 30, 2018 at Transfiguration Episcopal Church, 6909 Maryland Avenue, Braddock Heights, Maryland 21714.  Father Gordon DeLaVars will officiate. Inurnment with Naval Honors will be private.
