Mr. Kenneth Truman Crampton, 87, of Frederick, died Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at the Spa Creek Rehabilitation Center, Annapolis. He was the husband of the late S. Clerene (Marks) Crampton.
Born July 26, 1931 in Frederick, he was the son of the late Claude and Dora (Crone) Crampton.
Kenneth graduated from Frederick High School in 1948. He briefly worked in auto repair before serving in the US Army from 1952 to 1954 during the Korean War. Soon after his return from the Army, Kenneth went to work for the federal government at Fort Detrick where he worked in various positions including accounting and as an electrical technician until his retirement in 1986. For over 60 years, he was a member of the Evangelical Reformed United Church of Christ where he served in various capacities. Kenneth was also a Past Master Mason in Frederick's Columbia Lodge where he had been a member for over 50 years. In his spare time, Kenneth enjoyed working on cars and motorcycles, building model airplanes and spending time with his dog Maggie.
He is survived by his son Ross Crampton and wife Mary, grandchild Colin Crampton and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm, on Monday, October 1, 2018 at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick, MD 21701. The funeral will be held 11:00 am on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 in the Etchison Memorial Chapel at the funeral home. Rev. Barbara Kershner Daniel will officiate. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in his memory be made to the Evangelical Reformed United Church of Christ Building Fund, 15 West Church St, Frederick, MD 21701.
