Alfred "Larry" Burns

Mr. Alfred "Larry" Burns, 77, of Frederick, died Sunday, September 30, 2018 at Kline Hospice House after a long illness.

Larry was born in Damascus , MD on August 3, 1941 to Alfred C. Burns and Florrie Windsor Burns.

He graduated from FHS Class of 1959 where he excelled in track and played football. In 1960, he married his high school sweetheart Pat Himes. They had two caring and loving children.

Larry was a software developer/programmer for most of his career.  He relished a good challenge, whether work or personal, and met them all head on.  His laugh was loud and hardy and he enjoyed the company of family and friends.  He was a familiar face at the 75 & 80 drag-strip, both as an announcer and as one who made many trips down the 1320.  He was an intense football fan, sparing no quarter while hollering at the TV.  He was also a boxing and golf fan, especially the Master tournaments.

He leaves behind his wife of 58 years, son, Scott Burns, daughter, Lori Wilhelm, grandchildren, Ashlea Luecke, Michael Wilhelm (Amy), Alexa Wilhelm (Larry Sullivan) and Mason Wilhelm, great-grandson, Cooper, sister Anne Trenor (Al), sister-in-law, Vicki Gadberry (Eric), brother-in-law, Jeff Himes (Anne), nieces and nephews, Karen Moore (Tim), Hannah, Andrew, Maggie and Finn.

There will be no visitation and interment will be private at the request of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kline Hospice House, 7000 Kimmel Road, Mt. Airy, MD 21771.
