Cecelia Van Fossen Boller

Mrs. Cecelia Van Fossen Boller, 75, of Frederick, passed away on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at home after a courageous battle with cancer.  She was the wife of Charles H. Boller, Jr. to whom she was married for almost 52 years.  Born on May 15, 1943 in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late Eldred Winfield and Elizabeth R. Van Fossen. Celia graduated from Frederick High School, class of 1961.  During her time at Frederick High School she participated in several sports, her favorite being basketball. She continued her love of basketball by refereeing the sport for 18 years. Celia worked for many years as a medical receptionist in Frederick, gaining the love and respect of most everyone she encountered. In her free time she enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading and spending time at the cottage on the Chesapeake Bay.  In addition to her husband, Celia is survived by her daughter, Betsy Cowperthwaite and husband Scott, son Jim Boller and girlfriend Shawna Buhl and her granddaughter Riley Cowperthwaite.  She is also survived by her brother Jim Van Fossen & his wife Louise, brother-in-law Bill Lambdin, sister-in-law Judy Hatfield and husband Gail, brother-in-law Earle Boller, sister-in-law Nancy Moser and husband Wayne, many loving nieces, nephews, as well as many great nieces and nephews. She will be remembered by many friends, both lifelong and those she continued to make every day. Celia is predeceased by her siblings George Van Fossen and wife Catherine, Betty Lambdin, Eldred "Bub" Van Fossen and wife Betty, Ethelinda Van Fossen, and Dolores Hall and husband Eldon.  Friends will be received on Friday, October 12, 2018 from 6 to 8 PM at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick where services will be held in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 11 AM.  The interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Celia’s name to the Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association, PO Box 105, Glenolden, PA 19036.
