Mr. William D. Clements, 89, of Frederick, Maryland passed away on
October 15, 2018. He was the husband of Carol A. Clements, whom he married November 4, 1956.
Born in Rockville, Indiana on March 22, 1929, he was the son of the late Jeptha and Jewell Clements.
Mr. Clements spent his early years in Illinois and was a graduate of Bradley University, Peoria, Illinois. He served with the United States Army Fifth Corp in Germany during the Korean War.
He began his 36-year career with State Farm Insurance in Bloomington, Illinois. He also worked in Lincoln, Nebraska and Charlottesville, Virginia before being named Regional Life Insurance Manager in 1965 for the Seaboard State Farm Regional Office in Frederick, Maryland.
Mr. Clements was active in the Life Underwriters Association, local CLU Chapter and was a long time member of the Lions Club of Frederick. He was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church, Frederick, Maryland where he served on the church council and the ushering team, as well as volunteering his services in other church activities.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Diana Secrist and husband Daniel of Roanoke, Virginia; a son, David L. Clements of Frederick, Maryland; four grand children, Andrea Clements and husband Robert of Roanoke, Virginia, Andrew Secrist and wife Amy of Baltimore, Maryland, Matthew Clements of Roanoke, Virginia, and Nathan Clements of Christiansburg, Virginia; two great-grandsons, Alden and Everett Clements; a brother, Gary Clements and wife Pat of Coal Valley, Illinois. He was preceded in death by a brother, Francis Clements.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m., on Thursday, October 18, 2018, at the Evangelical Lutheran Church, 31 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., on Friday, October 19, 2018, at the church. The Rev. Douglas Jones, will officiate. Interment will be private.
