November 15, 1960 — October 14, 2018

James Frederic "Moe" Ellison, 57, of Frederick, Maryland, went to eternal rest on Sunday, October 14, 2018, following an extended illness.  Moe was born on November 15, 1960 in Washington, DC.  Moe had music in his soul. He loved to dance and attended local carnivals in Frederick. He spent many nights at Baker Park and Wolf Trap, enjoying all kinds of music.  Residents of the area fondly remember him dancing at the foot of the bandstands and a smile that could brighten anyone’s day. Moe loved exploring the metropolitan area, such as day and night trips to Ocean City, Maryland.

Moe is survived by his loving parents, Roger and Nancy Ellison, of The Villages, Florida, sister Alisa Jolivette and family from Texas, brother Jack Ellison and spouse from Virginia, brother Joe Ellison and family from Georgia, and brother Jay Ellison and family from Maryland.  He will be remembered by aunt Doris Nilson and family from Delaware, as well as 13 nieces and nephews and 15 grand nieces and nephews.

Moe will be missed by many people he met during his life, especially the staff from MedSource Community Services, Inc., his devoted caregiver and best friend of 28 years, Michael Frye, caregiver William Skelley, as well as former caregivers Kiyan Tajbakhsh and Amy Devore.  He will also be missed by housemates, Eugene Chapman and David Keener.  He will be remembered by the staff at Family Services Foundation in Frederick, and by Michele Banks Specht, former staff member at Human Development Council, Frederick.  In his passing, we also remember deceased caregivers and friends, Mrs. Esther Thomas, Juanita Dutrow, and Manav Panwar, as well as long time former housemate Albert Bowens and housemate Joe Griffith. Moe attended several day activity programs over the years, such as the Arc of Washington County, Inc. in Hagerstown, where he was loved by Sherri Knight.

Moe's family and caregivers wish to thank Hospice of Frederick County for their support during Moe's extended illness over recent months.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to MedSource Community Services, Inc. in Frederick, Maryland, 2090 Old Farm Drive, Frederick, MD 21701 in Moe's name.
