Emilline Marie Zimmerman

September 8, 1924 — October 30, 2018

It is with great sadness that the family of Emilline Marie Zimmerman announce her passing on October 30, 2018 at the age of 94. Emilline was born on September 8, 1924 in Garfield, MD to Martin and Mae Lewis Draper. She was a 1942 graduate of Middletown High School and continued her studies at the Visitation Academy where she earned secretarial certification. Upon graduation she worked a short time at Grangers Insurance Company, ten years at C&P Telephone company as an operator and then moved to Fort Detrick where she retired after 30 years of service in 1984. Emilline enjoyed spending time at her vacation home on the Potomac River and spent most of her free time exercising. On August 25,1949 she married Harry Walker Zimmerman, Jr. and was his best friend and loving wife for 69 years. In addition to her husband she is survived by son Harry (Zimmy) Zimmerman and wife Penny, son Gary Zimmerman and wife Pamela. She is also survived by her grandchildren Zachary Zimmerman and wife Kate, Kelly Zimmerman, Marly Zimmerman Dice and husband Jason and great grandchild Hannah Rose Dice. In addition to her parents, Emilline was preceded in death by her brother Stanley H. Draper, sisters Kathryn Kugler, Evelyn J. Lewis, Laura Virginia Miller, Charlotte R. Grumbine, and Mary Isabell Baumgardner.
A celebration of Emilline’s life will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2018, 9:00 a.m. at Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E Church Street, Frederick, where a service will begin at 10 AM. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Frederick County, 108 Byte Drive, Suite 103, Frederick, MD 21702.
