Gladys Elizabeth Sweeney

Gladys Sweeney, 91, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, November 6, 2018. She was married to Robert F. Sweeney for 40+years, who predeceased her in 1994. She was the daughter of the late Franklin and Gertrude Six of Thurmont. She was born on October 3, 1927.She held several jobs throughout her years, at Potomac Edison, mid- Maryland Electric and the City of Frederick. Yet, her favorite job was being a wife and a mother.She will be remembered as a loving and kind wife, mother, sister, daughter, friend and Disney World enthusiast. If she thought Disney World was great, can you just imagine what she's thinking of Heaven!She is survived by 3 children, 2 grandchildren and their spouses: Robert Sweeney (Maryland) Gary & JoAnn (Sweeney) Avers (Kentucky), Richard Sweeney & David Askew (Ohio). Sarah Anne Avers (Kentucky), Robert & Olivia Avers (California), She is also survived by one sister, Dolores Stone, of Thurmont and several nieces and nephews.A funeral is planned for Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 10 AM at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. Rev. Karin Albaugh will officiate. The interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
