Carol Ann Desantis

November 9, 1936 — November 15, 2018

Mrs. Carol Ann (Sedden) DeSantis, 82, of Frederick passed away on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at her residence, surrounded by her loving husband, family and friends. She was the loving wife of Larry DeSantis for 41 years.

She was a vibrant musician.

Born November 9, 1936 in Erie, PA, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Gladys (Kaltenhauser) Sedden.

She went on to teach as a professor of music at Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania where she created a vocal group of talented Madrigal performers, which toured the East Coast for several years. In Washington, she toured and performed with the Paul Hill Chorale.

Carol expressed a talent and love for music at an early age. While attending elementary schools in Washington DC and Philadelphia, she earned many awards and certificates as a pianist.

From 1982 until 2013, five years before her passing, she shared her passion for teaching music and voice in her studio in Frederick. Many of her students reached their goals and dreams becoming musicians and performers internationally, on Broadway, at Lincoln Center, Nashville and locally.

Carol had a wonderful gift of loving people by sharing it through music both vocal and instrumental. It was overshadowed only by her love for the Lord and the Scriptures. Those she touched, and they are many, both young and old, will carry her memory through a lifetime and perhaps beyond.

Carol mentored many students and members of Grace Community Church in their musical and vocal expression in worship.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Frank DeSantis and wife Carol, daughter, Nadja Ward and husband Bob, grandchildren, Sarah DeSantis, Ellie DeSantis, Billy Ward and Michael Ward, numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5pm to 7pm, on Monday, November 19, 2018 at the Grace Community Church, 5102 Old National Pike, Frederick, MD 21702. The funeral service will be held at 11:00AM, on Tuesday, November 20, 2018, at the church. Pastor R. Dallas Greene will officiate. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The luncheon will follow back at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Frederick County, P.O. Box 1799, Frederick, MD 21702 or to the church at the above address.
