Lillian C. Mann

January 8, 1932 — December 2, 2018

Mrs. Lillian Colleen Mann, age 86 of Urbana, passed away on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at Vindobona Nursing Home. She was the widow of Winston T. Mann, having been married for nearly 55 years. Born on January 8, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Waldo and Lula Mae Bernard.Lillian was born in Kansas City, Kansas and grew up there with three brothers and one sister. She excelled in academics, music and athletics in high school. She then earned a B.S. in Nursing at Kansas University, Lawrence Kansas in 1955, where she also met her husband, Tom. After college she worked as a nurse in many different cities including Kansas City, Alexandria Virginia, and Chicago. She moved throughout the United States where her husband's Veterans Administration career took them. They retired to Urbana in the 1980s. In addition to her nursing career, she enjoyed travel throughout the United States and visited Europe twice. She continued to excel in sports throughout her life and enjoyed gardening and crafts. She served as a Cub Scout den mother, participated in the Republican women's club, and later took an active interest in her grandchildren, often baby-sitting them as they grew up. She loved to draw and paint and she was active in the Flint Hill United Methodist Church until her health prevented her from attending.Surviving are her two sons, Winston Eugene Mann and wife Jacqueline, of Middletown and Roger Alan Mann and wife Mary of Herndon, VA. She was the grandmother of Winston Emile, Yvette, Monique, Jessica, Elizabeth and Caroline and was the great grandmother of Carson Kuchel. She is survived by her brothers John Bernard of Shawnee Mission, Kansas and Dewey Bernard of Indianapolis, Indiana.A graveside service will be held on Friday, December 7, 2018 at 11 AM at the Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
