Ruth Mildred Mauro

Mrs. Ruth Mildred (Jewell) Mauro, 90, of Frederick passed peacefully Sunday, December 2, 2018 at Citizens Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late Samuel Mauro who preceded her in death in 2008.

Born April 24,1928 in Lime Kiln, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Bessie (Tobery) Jewell. Ruthie, Mother Mauro as she was known, was loved by so many! She opened her home to everyone. She was very close with all her brothers and sisters, especially her dear brother Charles (Uncle Charlie). Her siblings include; Dottie Bowers, Clarence Jewell, Margaret Fox, Charles Jewell and Bessie Lorraine Shores.

Ruth is survived by her son, Michael Mauro Sr. and wife Jeannie, daughters, Michele Small and husband Bob and Melissa Winpigler and husband Chris, grandchildren, Christine Miller, Samuel Mauro II, Michael Mauro Jr., Natalie Fulmer, Ashley Pierce, Jeffrey Small, CJ Winpigler, Nick Winpigler and Bradley Winpigler, numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Melinda Mauro and sisters, Katherine Castle and Rosalie Ebberts.

The family will receive friends from 3pm to 6pm, on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home 106 E. Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701. The funeral service will be held at 11:00AM, on Thursday, December 6, 2018 in the Etchison Memorial Chapel at the funeral home. Rev. Linda Lambert will officiate. Interment will follow at Clustered Spires Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 10616 Beaver Dam Rd., suite S-1, Hunt Valley, MD 21030 or a charity of one's choice.
