Mildred Ilene Puglise

Mrs. Mildred Ilene Puglise, 96, of Frederick, passed away on Tuesday, December 25, 2018, at Homewood at Crumland Farms. She was the loving wife of the late Frank John Puglise, who died on January 29, 2000. Born on August 4, 1922 near Rock Island, IL, she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Beulah Bundy Gordon.
Mildred has been a resident at Homewood since 2007. Prior to Homewood, she lived many years with her husband at Crestwood Village and Brooklawn.
Mildred graduated from Salem High School, Salem, IN and moved to Indianapolis, where she worked for RCA and P. R. Mallary Radio Factories during WW II. She went to work at Fort Benjamin Harrison in 1951 then transferred to Fort Myers, VA in 1954. She retired from the Justice Department in Washington, DC after 30 years of Federal Government service.
A lifelong love of travel took Mildred and Frank on many adventures throughout the US and abroad. They frequently traveled with the Frederick Travel Club and Crestwood Travel Group. Together they enjoyed dancing and rarely missed the opportunity to ring in the New Year.
She was a longtime member of the Trinity United Methodist Church and a member of the NARFE Chapter 409, both in Frederick.
Surviving is one sister, Rosemary Carter, of IN, sister-in-law, Gloria Gordon, of IN and her step daughter, Elaine Puglise Wenzel, of FL, and several nieces and nephews. She will also be remembered by special friends, Jeri Kalins, Simone and Donnie Phebus and their families. She was preceded in death by her sister, Virginia E. Nichols and brother, Donivon W. Gordon.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, January 4, 2019, at the mausoleum chapel of the Mount Olivet Cemetery, 515 South Market St., Frederick. The Rev. Suzanne S. Morris,  Chaplain of Homewood, will officiate. Arrangements are with the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Frederick County, P. O. Box 1799, Frederick, MD 21702 or to the Homewood Foundation, P. O. Box 250, Williamsport, MD 21795-0250.
