Nellie Gregory LaSorsa, 90, of Frederick, MD passed away Sunday, March 4, 2012 at her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was the wife of the late Sam LaSorsa, who predeceased her on February 1, 2007. Nellie was born on June 11, 1921 in San German, Puerto Rico. She was the daughter of the late Adela Quintana Gregory and Enrique Gregory. She had 4 sisters and 1 brother, all who have predeceased her. Nellie was married to Sam LaSorsa on April 5, 1945. They were married for 62 years. They raised their four children in New York, before retiring to Florida. They moved to Frederick, MD in 2005. Nellie attended Nazareth College in Rochester, New York and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from the University of Puerto Rico, graduating Magnum Cum Laude. Nellie is survived by her three daughters. Nancy LaSorsa, Annell Pepe and her husband Steven Pepe and Valerie Hartman and her husband John Hartman. Nellie has 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her son, Louis Gregory LaSorsa, who passed away on February 7, 2012. Nellie will always be remembered by her friends and family as a loving and generous wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Let us preach you without preaching not by words, but by our example by the catching force the sympathetic influence of what we do the evident fullness of the love our hearts bear to you. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 pm, on Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick. A mass of Christian burial will be at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, March 7, 2012, at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 218 E. 2nd Street, Frederick. Monsignor Richard Murphy will officiate.
